Dry Bones

Dry Bones is a novel, or a cautionary tale if you will, that exposes not only wolves in sheep’s clothing, but also sheep who have left their first love “He that hath and ear, let him hear.”

Pastor Herman Reese, a Pastor of a small church, a man who loves God but also a man who lives in terror of what God has called him to do.

It all begins when He receives a mysterious red envelope. Inside is an invitation to an upscale, very elite, Pastor’s conference that only mega churches get invited to. He believes it to be a mistake until he receives a call from the sponsoring church confirming the invitation. Pastor Mortimer Sneed and Pastor Wilson are the presiding bishops of the conference and the only God they worship is the almighty dollar. After arriving at the conference, Herman quickly see’s he is way out of his league, but in God’s eyes, they are out of his league, and God has chosen his David He will use to slay Goliath.

With the help of kindred spirits, ministering angels, and the prayers of the righteous, the dead are brought back to life because God is merciful, but some situations and some people just have to be dealt with, and the evil in this world will learn that it is a fearful thing to fall in the hands of the living God!

The Josiah Effect

Masterfully crafted by D.L. Augustine, ‘The Josiah Effect’ follows the story of a successful Child Psychiatrist and a ten-year-old boy. After their lives cross paths, one letter serves as the catalyst for a chain of events that will positively impact the lives of many. While primarily fiction, Augustine’s narrative is also being used to help readers realize the importance of allowing God to heal them…

Josiah is a very special ten-year old who has a dysfunctional mother whom he loves dearly. Josiah’s mother loves him but the pursuit of her own selfish desires keep her distracted and unplugged from her only son until he writes a letter to God asking how he can get his mother to love him more.

Robin is a psychiatrist of some renown. She takes Josiah on as a pro bono patient after the letter comes to the attention of her best friend and Sorority Sister Tiffany Drayton who is also Josiah’s teacher. Tiffany quickly determines the letter is a desperate cry for help from a child who is on the edge. After meeting Josiah, Robin feels a connection to the child unlike anything she has ever experienced before. She is determined too save Josiah at all cost but as events are set into motion, and situations unfold, it becomes unclear who exactly is saving who?

The letter sets off a chain of events that, before it’s over, many people, including Josiah, his mother, and Robin will travel to hell and back before they come to the realization of what it means to truly love and to forgive and how God always answers prayers in his own time and his own way.
